Valentine’s Day is coming up, and if you came to this blog looking for gift ideas – why wouldn’t you, right? – then allow me to direct you to the perfect place. My sister-in-law, Renae de Leeuw, designs and creates her own jewellery. She’s a gifted artist who makes her earrings and necklaces by hand, and who runs a little online shop where she sells them. This means that you don’t have to live anywhere near the Fraser Valley, where she lives, because you can order them online and have them shipped to your house.
So if you like your jewellery mass-produced, put together by machines, and sold for crazy prices, this isn’t the place for you. But if you value things that are made by human hands, each piece of jewellery imagined and fashioned by the same person, each one with its own grace and flair, then I need not say more. Although the word pulchritudinous does come to mind.
